Our garden meeting this year was held at Victoria Raymonds’ beautiful house and garden. The weather was very hot and humid so it was with pleasure that we sat at a table in a shady part of the garden, catching what little breeze was available.

After our usual business meeting, helped by cool drinks of elderflower and fruit juice, we enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea.

Egg mayonnaise sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, strawberries and cream. Then pots of good tea with chocolate brownies and gorgeously iced cupcakes, made by new local baker, Emma Hunt of  ‘scrumptious bakes by Emma’. Victoria was presented with a beautiful plant as a thank you for her hospitality.

There is no meeting in August as we will arranging an outing possibly to The Vyne.

Our Thursday 6th September meeting talk is entitled ‘Lost lands between Finland and Russia’ by Diana White. Meetings take place at the RBL village hall in Herriard at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of the month and all ladies are welcome.
