Bentworth Care Group

Should any villager need transport to any medical appointment in February, please ring any of these drivers

Jean Cornelius 562102; Stella Strachan 564195; Susie Greenwood 563326

We always appreciate as much notice as possible, but we know that this is not possible every time. Our service is freely given, but we ask for a contribution towards our petrol costs.

The Annual General Meeting of the Care Group was held at Stella Strachan’s on 15th January. It was attended by 13 members , as yet again, the flu bug struck down some people and others were away.

The Care Group said goodbye to Maxine Wood, Marietta Branch and Maureen Wright. All stalwart members of our group for many years. Maxine, in particular has been the Treasurer for the past 10+ years. So we are sad to see them go, but wish them all well for the future.

We now have 3 new members, Lucia Constant, Susie Greenwood and Sarah Whitley.

Our group is much needed in the village to take people to medical appointments. In the past year we have undertaken 132 journeys. Our commitment is to keep villagers in their own homes for as long as is possible.

It was a lovely moment when I was given a beautiful bouquet and a beauty token, by the group as I too am bowing out of the chairmanship, but will continue as a driver.

In the future the Chairman will be Jackie Crawford and the Treasurer / Secretary will be Jackie Cleveland.

My sincere thanks to everyone for their continued help and support.

The next meetings will be on 5th February at Hollingworth, New Copse; and 26th February at Ivalls Cottage both starting at 10.30.

‘Fred’ Moir
