Lasham Gliding

Lasham Gliding

Our Spring weather has been as unpredictable as always, however, our cross-country pilots have already been recording successful ights – 200km+ distances were already notched up in the rst week of March. At the time of writing Easter weather is looking uncertain so we hope that all our members will have brought their gliders back to the club, nished the last of the maintenance work and be ready to go the minute the summer thermals lift off!

For your diaries, the 2016 Lasham Regionals competition will take place in the week of 28th May to 5th June 2016, early this year, so keep your ngers crossed for ne weather. If the weather is kind come along and watch the grid take off, have lunch, and then see the nishers racing in later in the afternoon. Later on in the year, the Juniors have their own Competition, so August will be a busy month too.

And a reminder that for those who like their aircraft vintage, there is the opportunity to see the vintage Gliders at the Heritage Centre, and we have a vintage tug still operating – our Super Cub G-ATRG is fty years old, has been in service at Lasham for the entire time, and will also be working during the Regionals. A testament to the servicing care and skills of the maintenance workshop crew!

More news on the website and next time! Remember, visitors and spectators are always welcome in the restaurant, bar and viewing area, you never know, you might even be tempted to an Air Experience ight too!
