Lasham Gliding Society Winter Talks
We are arranging a really good season of Saturday evening events again this winter with something organised every Saturday from the bonfire night party through to the beginning of April. Talks are free of charge and you do not need to be a member at Lasham to attend. Non-members and members of other clubs are also most welcome.
Some dates and talks might change and some not are yet fully arranged but listed below is the current situation. An updated list will be issued in due course.
Saturday talks will usually commence at 6pm and will be held in the Brown Elephant briefing room if it is available. The talks are free of charge but as is customary, a silver collection will be made at the end of each talk for the Lasham Trust or other deserving cause of the speaker’s choosing.
We have new caterers and a table service dinner will be available in the restaurant afterwards. Booking is strongly advised on email@example.com or 01256 384910. The bar is also available to members and visitors.

Saturday 28th Jan – Paramotoring, the Self Launching Motor Glider, in the boot of a car. by Michel Carnet, current British Champion and former World Champion
Saturday 4th Feb – A talk by Adam Spink who is a Heathrow Controller. An overview of ATC operations at Heathrow. Or; How to squeeze a quart into a pint pot.
Saturday 11th Feb – An event is planned and will be advised in due course.
Saturday 18th Feb – Another chance to visit the WW2 Battle of Britain bunker at Uxbridge followed by an optional “adventure in Curry” meal at a local restaurant. This is a fascinating place to visit and is where the coordination of the Battle of Britain actually took place. Prior booking needed. Contact Lasham office on 01256 384900 to book a place.
Saturday 25th Feb – Change of date: Glyn Bradney will present and narrate a collection of gliding videos including some “mishaps” caught on film.
Saturday 4th March – A talk by Broadcast professional and futurologist, Richard Salmon on television past, present and future and what your next TV and home entertainment system might look like.
Saturday 11th March – A talk by Shaun Lapworth on LXNav instruments and their development. This talk will be of interest to glider pilots and pilots of light sport aircraft.
