Christmas Lunch – Thursday December 3rd 2015

As always, we gathered in good spirits for this annual occasion held at the Royal British Legion Hall, Herriard.

The room filled with greetings and chatter as we found our way to our seats. The meal, table settings and service were of the high standard set each year by our stalwart caterers, The MacIlvoy Family of Lasham. True to expectations the food was delicious and plentiful.

We all entered into the Christmas spirit, Glyn Bradley sporting spectacles adorned with dropped pearls, which, had he coloured his hair with a purple rinse, would have given Dame Edna a run for her money! Those of us on the cusp of our second childhood enjoyed reading out the corny jokes from the Christmas crackers, spinning the minute spinning tops and attempting to control the plastic jumping frogs between the courses.

The time sped by and all too soon we were saying our goodbyes, wishing all “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

On the 14th January 2016, we meet at 2.00pm for an Afternoon Tea and social update, after the Yuletide festivities.

Our next formal meeting is on the 4th February 2016, our speaker will be Miss Servier and her topic is A Year in the Life of a New Forest Pony and It’s Owner – The Commoner. Visitors are always welcome.
Both events are held at our usual venue – The Royal British Legion Hall, Herriard.
