Annual Churchyard Tidy

Church The Villager

With all the recent warm weather and now rain (at the time of writing!), everything in the churchyard has grown well this year. It is now time for the annual clearance and tidy up and your help is needed. We will be holding this fun and beneficial event on Saturday 5th November starting at 9.30am and ending at 1pm. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided to help recharge batteries. Should the weather be terrible on the 5th then a reserve date of Saturday 12th November is proposed. If you are able to attend please come armed with rakes, cutters, barrows and anything else you feel will assist in the tidy up. We look forward to seeing you then. ...

Church The Villager

Ben and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the support given to Reverend Jeyapaul and Charles during their visit to the Benefice. It was wonderful to hear of the warm reception they received at Bentworth and Medstead Schools as well as the opportunity they were given to share their experiences during morning worship. ...

Grateful Thanks

Church The Villager

Thank you to all those who held the fort during the interregnum. Since Ben Flenley’s departure a small band of people have valiantly maintained all the facilities of our village church in a most commendable fashion. At the beginning none of them knew how long it would be before the announcement of our new Priest in Charge, but this did not deter them from carrying on. Among those involved were Mr Dunwoody, and other members of the parochial church council; Stella Burnett, and the other ladies of the Guild of St Martha; and most importantly, in regard to the care of all the outside areas and grounds, Charlie Phillips and those valiant members of his labouring force. Also, mention of Sue Phillips and other ladies who have continued to produce lovely floral decorations in the church and not least to Chris Hurley and his team of skilled Campanologists. ...

The Kathryn Mercy Home

Church The Villager

Way back in 1988 Ben and I were introduced to Reverend Jeyapaul from Tamil Nadu in Southern India. Little did we know that this was to be the start of a friendship which would stand the test of time and result in hundreds of lives being transformed by the dedication of Jeyapaul and his son Charles, and by the formation of the Kathryn’s Mercy Home Trust. ...

How good it was to welcome so many to our APCM on 12th April – thank you to all those who came to the meeting and supported your PCC. Happily two Church Wardens, and two Assistant Wardens were elected, so we will be able to welcome our new Priest in July with an enthusiastic team. There is space for several more members so if anyone who wasn’t at the meeting would like to join us, please do contact me. ...
