John Stockdale has passed on the following message from Veronica Parker regarding broadband upgrades:
The good news is that superfast broadband is definitely coming to Bentworth as part of the wave 2 roll out. The bad news is that it is not going to get here very quickly and not everyone will get access. The initial planning will not be completed until September and currently there is no expected date for the work to start.
To find out if you are in the group who will get access to superfast broadband go to http://www.hampshiresuperfastbroadband.com and enter your postcode.
Having done a preliminary postcode search I think that the cabinet on the Green will be upgraded. Those of us who are too far from their cabinet to benefit even when it is upgraded are going to have to wait for “new infrastructure”. Currently I don’t know what that means. I have requested that we be re-parented to the box on the Green and been told that due to the scale of their work Openreach can’t consider re-parenting requests.
PA – if you remember a previous email/article, houses from about Veronica’s towards Medstead in Holt End Lane are connected to a cabinet in Medstead. I believe that most/all of us in the village centre on the Lasham side of the Village Green and those up as far as Veronica’s are on the cabinet on the Village Green that will be upgraded and give us a much improved broadband speed.
