Kathryn and I both were very touched by the wonderful final service, lunch and many kind comments made afterwards, either in Ian Jurd’s generous speech or to us in person. It was a great delight to see so many there and to be able to spend time chatting with you all. Many thanks to Patrick Busby and Ian Jurd for bringing Patrick’s piano to the party, and for Patrick’s playing. Thanks also to Steve Clarke for setting up and operating the sound system – if only the microphone had decided to play ball! Thank you to all those who prepared and brought all the food, it made for an excellent meal. We are both grateful, too, for your generosity in our farewell gift. Ben, who is a keen wildlife photographer, is putting his share towards a powerful zoom lens for his camera; Kathryn, who wishes to continue to help both children and adults with specific learning difficulties, is putting her share towards purchasing those diagnostic materials which, hitherto, have been available through school. ...
