Work on the on the new playing surface of our green, which has been installed by Dale’s Sports Surfaces of Boston, Lincolnshire, started in mid April as planned and progressed very smoothly. The first job was to strip off the old carpet and load it into skips, which was very hard work because it had been soaked by recent rain and so had to be cut into pieces of a manageable weight. Fortunately they had good cool weather for this labour-intensive job and it was completed in well under a week. ...

Our May meeting was a reading of the revised script for a pantomime to be performed at the beginning of December this year. There was an excellent feedback from the members and they are very enthusiastic about staging it. It has been written by Nita Simpson and pairs Cinderella with Aladdin. Cinderella is about to marry Aladdin, when they find that all their money and wealth has been stolen, though they do not know by whom. As they cannot marry until the debts are paid off, Aladdin has to find a job, but all does not go according to plan. There are 12 adult roles plus a chorus of children.
